Monitoring of Ichthyofauna in the Protected Natural Areas of Sarajevo Canton

A presentation of the results of the project „Establishment of continuous monitoring ofichthyofauna in protected natural areas of Sarajevo Canton“ was held on 22 March in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Science in Sarajevo, on the occasion of World Water Day and in the organization of Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas. Those present were addressed by Adnan Medić, on behalf of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, Dr Samir Đug, on behalf of the Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo and Director Asad Jelešković, on behalf of the organizer of this presentation – Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.

After the opening remarks, Dr Mahir Gajević, professor at the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Science, spoke about the results of the project, about the state of ichthyofauna in all protected natural areas of Sarajevo Canton, and about the problems that were encountered as well as the problems encountered during monitoring. After him, Dr Enad Korjenić, professor at the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Medicine, presented recommendations and guidelines for the implementation of research results in protected natural areas.

It should be emphasized that this presentation of the project’s results is planned in such a way as to bring together all the relevant actors who are involved in the preservation of aquatic ecosystems and the ichthyofauna living in them.
