A new facility featuring a speleological exhibition was officially opened today within the Bijambare Protected Landscape. The ceremony marked the completion of activities under the project “Enhancing Sustainable Management Mechanisms of the Bijambare Protected Landscape through Capacity Building of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.”
The opening of the facility represents an important enhancement of the tourism offer within the protected area, with a particular focus on the promotion of caves as a tourism product and the development of sustainable speleotourism. Through a modern approach to presenting speleological values, the project aims to improve the management of cave ecosystems, reduce the negative impacts of visitor activities, and contribute to the preservation of sensitive natural habitats.
The facility was financed through the support of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Municipal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton.
Following welcoming remarks by the Institution’s Director, Asad Jelešković, who presented the Institution’s achievements to date and its future objectives, attendees were also addressed by Mladen Pandurević and Nasiha Pozder. Minister Pozder officially inaugurated the facility, highlighting its importance for nature conservation, environmental education, and the sustainable development of tourism in the area.
