Visitor statistics for the period January–May 2026 indicate a continued positive trend in attendance across the protected areas managed by the Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.

At Vrelo Bosne, a total of 91,259 visitors were recorded, representing an increase compared to the same period in 2025, when 88,097 visitors were registered.

Significant growth was also recorded within the Bijambare Protected Landscape. The total number of entries increased from 18,769 to 25,064, while visits to the Bijambare Cave rose from 4,816 to 5,431. In addition, the tourist train operating within the protected area was used by 13,151 visitors, compared to 9,980 during the same period in 2025.

These results demonstrate that Sarajevo Canton’s protected natural areas are becoming increasingly recognised destinations for recreation, leisure, and nature-based tourism. The steady rise in visitor numbers also reflects growing public awareness of the importance of conserving natural heritage and promoting responsible behaviour within protected areas.

The continued increase in attendance highlights the success of ongoing efforts to improve visitor infrastructure, enhance tourism services, and promote the natural values of these protected areas while maintaining a strong focus on environmental protection and sustainable management.
