Organized by the Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, World Forest Protection Day was marked on 19 March at the plateau near the cable car arrival station on Trebević. A rich and engaging programme, consisting of a short play, recitals, and musical performances, was presented by students of the “Nafija Sarajlić” primary school from Sarajevo.
This event was held as part of a project dedicated to marking environmental dates in cooperation with primary and secondary schools. Through such activities, students become familiar with the protected areas of Sarajevo Canton and are educated about the importance of preserving natural values. The project has been implemented since 2011, and more than 18,000 students have participated in it so far.
