“Days of Protected Natural Areas of Sarajevo Canton” Opened at Bijambare

Organized by the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, with the support of UNDP, the “Days of Protected Natural Areas of Sarajevo Canton” were inaugurated on Tuesday, 4 June, at Bijambare, lasting until 5 June. Speaking at the event were Bojan Bošnjak, Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton; Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at the University of Sarajevo (PMF); Akif Fazlić, Mayor of Ilijaš Municipality; and Asad Jelešković, Director of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas. They expressed gratitude to all participants, particularly the Federation Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, for their support of the Institution’s activities.

Following the opening ceremony, biology students from the PMF Department of Biology began their scheduled fieldwork. Meanwhile, students from the High School for Environment and Wood Design in Sarajevo, after a lecture by Professor Nicole Pasini on the restoration of peatland ecosystems, focused on working on forest management.
