A workshop under the program “Promoting Participatory Policy Processes to StrengthenEnvironmental Governance” was held from 13 to 14 November 2024 at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Sarajevo, organized by the National Democratic Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NDI). In addition to public and political sector officials, employees of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas also participated in the event.
The goal of the workshop was to improve understanding and application of public deliberative processes (PDD – participatory and deliberative democracy) and to bring together all stakeholders to develop and implement a participatory process on waste management issues in Sarajevo Canton.
Participants had the opportunity to learn the principles and quality standards of PDD, as well as practical skills for designing and implementing these processes. The training included interactive lectures, workshops, exercises, visual tools, and case studies to facilitate experiential learning and active engagement.
