On 22 May, in Fojnica, World Biodiversity Day was marked under the organization of the Cantonal Public Institution “Šćona,” the manager of the Prokoško Lake Nature Monument. A panel discussion titled “Preservation and Sustainable Development of the Prokoško Lake Nature Monument” was held.
As part of this event, a study visit to the area was organized, during which the Alpine newt was relocated to the habitat of Lake Šestica to protect and preserve this valuable species and its endemic habitat. This gathering connected all major institutions in the field of nature conservation, as well as non-governmental organizations. Representatives from the Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas of Sarajevo Canton also participated, exchanging experiences and best practices in sustainable management.
