On 28 October 2022, a lecture was organised in the area of the Protected Landscape “Bijambare” on the occasion of October – Fire Prevention Month. A lecture on fires and their prevention was given to the students of the High School of Agriculture, Food, Veterinary and Services and the High School for Environment and Wood Design from Sarajevo by members of the Professional Fire Department of the Canton of Sarajevo, who also introduced them to firefighting equipment.
This event was organized by Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas as part of a project of marking important ecological dates in cooperation with primary and secondary schools. This project has been implemented by the Institution for the twelfth year in a row and more than 10,000 students have gone through it. Through these activities, students get involved in the work of protected natural areas and strengthen their awareness of the importance of protecting natural values, in the specific case of fire prevention.
