The VI. International Conference of the Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides (PAs) and the Regional Conference of Civil Society Organizations, called “Through Regional Cooperation Towards Sustainable Protected Areas” organized by WWF and the Dinarides Parks was held from 31 May to 2 June at the hotel “Hills” in Ilidža. The conference was attended, among others, by representatives of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.
The conference brought together more than 150 participants from the countries of the region who, through discussions, presentations and workshops, addressed the topic of the regional cooperation and its importance. The conference discussed, among other things, the contribution of protected areas to achieving global and EU goals in biodiversity conservation and implementation of national strategies for adaptation to climate change, new development initiatives in the Dinarides Parks network, sustainable financing of protected areas, mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between protected areas and local community, etc.
On the third day of the conference, the participants visited the area of the Protected Landscape “Bijambare” and were introduced to with its natural values, specifics and organization of management.
