In the organization of the Cantonal Institution for Protected Natural Areas and in cooperation with USAID and UNDP, on 13 December, in the hotel “Hills” in Ilidža, the conference “Development and perspectives of protected natural areas of Sarajevo Canton” was held. Those present were addressed by Karl Wurster, Director of the Economic Department of USAID, Zineta Mujaković, Head of the Department for Nature Conservation, Biological and Landscape Diversity of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Bojan Bošnjak, Minister of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, and Nermin Muzur, Mayor of Ilidža Municipality and on behalf of the conference organizer Asad Jelešković, Director of Cantonal Institution for Protected Natural Areas.
At the conference, the promotional and educational film “Protected Natural Areas of Sarajevo Canton” was premiered, and the director of Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, Asad Jelešković, presented the results and achievements of the Institution in 2023. Presentations were also held on the importance of protecting natural values, and two panels were organized by USAID and UNDP entitled “Sustainable tourism in the service of nature conservation: the potential of protected areas of the Sarajevo Canton” and “Gender aspect in the management of natural resources”.
