Research on orchid habitats in protected natural areas meant inventorying these valuable species and habitats and publishing the results.

On 26 December, in the premises of the Institution, director Asad Jelešković and his colleagues held a meeting with one of the authors of the book, doc. Elvedin Šabanović, who handed over copies of the publication “Wild Orchids in the Protected Areas of Sarajevo Canton”.

The publication describes the species identified by field research, as well as numerous endemic and rare species and their habitats. The finding of a large number of these extremely sensitive species in protected natural areas is proof that the protection of these most valuable areas in Sarajevo Canton is the best way of in situ conservation and preservation of habitats and species.
