Expert Visit to Vrelo Bosne and Bijambare

On 19 and 20 October, the Regional Resource Center (ReReC) paid an expert visit to the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas as part of the project „Campaign for the Protection and Sustainable Management of the Area of ​​Natural Value Borak Spring with the Lištica River Canyon“ which is supported by the Center for Civil Society Promotion within the project „Thoughts aboutnature“ funded by Swish government. The participants of the expert visit were representatives of four municipalities from the Western Herzegovina Canton (Široki Brijeg, Posušje, Grude and Ljubuški), representatives and deputies of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of the Western Herzegovina Canton, representatives of partner organizations/associations and the ReReCa team.

The aim of the expert visit was to bring the issues of nature protection and sustainable management closer together, and to come up with its need among key stakeholders. The Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas served as an example of good practice of sustainable management of protected natural areas.

On the first day, the participants visited the area of ​​the Nature Monument „Vrelo Bosne“, and the next day, on 20 October, they also visited the area of ​​the Protected Landscape „Bijambare“, where the representatives of the Institution presented to them the method of financing as well as the goals for which the Institution was founded.

In addition to the representatives of the Institution, the presentation was also attended by the Assistant Minister for Environmental Protection from the line Ministry, who referred to the positive legal acts by which the Institution is governed.
