A presentation of the project „Digital technologies and tourism: the role of virtual reality in the promotion and competitiveness of tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ was held on 13 March in the premises of the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. It was attended by representatives of institutions and associations dealing with tourism, including representatives of Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas. The project leader is Dr. Almir Peštek, professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo, and professors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Science at the University of Sarajevo also participate in it. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science.
The presentation talked about the modern technologies and their application in tourism, especially about VR technology, which brings tourists as close as possible to the area they are interested in and enables them to get to know it in detail in the so-called virtual reality. At the presentation, it was concluded that such technologies represent the future and that all parties dealing with tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina must include them in their offer.
