A large spring city cleaning campaign called “Sarajevo 2023” began in the protected area of Bentbaša on 25 April. The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton in cooperation with Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas and companies KJKP “Rad”, KJKP “Park”, KJKP “Vodovod i Kanalizacija” and KJKP “Pokop”. The campaign was launched by the Minister Almir Bećarević. In the area of the Sarajevo Canton municipalities, during the campaign, the following actions are planned: removal of illegal landfills and bulky waste, manual and mechanical cleaning and washing of public traffic areas, cleaning of drainage, mowing and landscaping of green areas, landscaping of trees, mowing and landscaping of city cemeteries, protected parks and walkways.
The aim of the campaign is to create a nicer environment for the inhabitants of Sarajevo and to strengthen their environmental awareness. This cleaning campaign is also an education about the exceptional natural and cultural values of Sarajevo Canton and the importance of their protection.
