In the premises of the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 19 October, a press conference was held as part of the project „Intersectoral partnership for human rights and gender equality in the labormarket“ implemented by the foundation „Infohouse“ from Sarajevo in cooperation with the foundation „Lara“ from Bijeljina with financial support of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas is one of eight selected companies from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina that will promote gender equality in its work.

In addition to the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, Sport Vision, Sarajevo International Airport, GS Tvornica mašina Travnik, Hadžići High School Center, Telemach, Brčko District Employment Office and Bijeljina Water Supply and Sewerage were selected for the implementation of the project.

The Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas is the first cantonal institution that participates in the implementation of this kind of project, and one of the activities that will be carried out as part of the project is the development of a Gender Equality Plan, which aims to protect female and male employees from harassment, as well as ensure working conditions in accordance with the highest ethical standards. In the context of the protection of human rights, a legal framework has been defined to which institutions are obliged to raise awareness of prevention and treatment in cases of any type of discrimination. By creating this document, in addition to protecting employees, the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas will make it easier to apply for grants from the European Union.

The establishment of gender equality is one of the key goals and priorities of the development of every modern society. Gender equality means equal visibility, encouragement and participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life. Gender equality does not mean that men and women are the same, but that they are equal, that they have equal opportunities and rights.
