On 8 October 2022, the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas organised the fair of local products and handicrafts called “Golden Colors” in the area of the “Bijambare” Protected Landscape.  The residents of Ilijaš municipality who gravitate to Bijambarame presented their own food products such as honey, buckwheat flour and other handicrafts such as souvenirs and various clothing made of natural materials. After the opening of the fair, a lecture on the protected areas of Sarajevo Canton was held in the Information and Education Center and the award-winning promotional films of the young ambassadors of the protected areas were shown. The lecture and presentation were organized as part of the project “We Know and Protect the Natural Values of the Canton of Sarajevo” implemented by the non-governmental organization CENER 21 from Sarajevo.

The goal of the Institution is to involve the local population in the work of protected areas, and such fairs and similar events are the best way to connect with them. The cooperation proved to be fruitful because the local population recognized the prosperity of the protected areas as their own and they are one of the most interested parties for the successful operation of protected areas.
